Bites and Concerns
Bed bugs usually bite people at night while they are sleeping. They do this by piercing the skin with an extended beak which draws the blood. It takes about 3 to 10 minutes to eat but the person seldom knows that they’re being bitten. Symptoms vary after being bitten. Some get an itchy red mark or swelling. Others have little or no reaction while some have a severe, but delayed reaction.
A common concern with bed bugs is whether or not they transmit diseases. Even if bedbugs could carry bacteria in their bodies, it is very unlikely that they could spread them to humans. Even though they don’t carry diseases, bed bugs greatly reduce your quality of life because of the discomfort, sleeplessness, anxiety, and embarrassment that they cause. Traditional repellants used for ticks and mosquitoes are not effective against bedbugs. DDT has been banned for years. Wondercide has developed a non toxic, organic pesticide product to kill bed bugs and their life cycle. Wondercide BioDefense can be applied with a typical pump up sprayer or with a ULV non thermal fogging machine. Results are almost immediate, completely safe, and remarkably effective.
How Infestations Originate
Even if it seems that bed bugs come from nowhere, these bugs are actually efficient hitchhikers and are usually transported through luggage, clothing, beds, furniture, and other items. Once introduced, they often spread throughout the area.
Where They Hide
The most common place to find bed bugs is the bed, especially in the early stages of the problem. As the infestations grow larger, these bugs tend to move from the beds into other locations making pest control more difficult. A careful inspection and treatment could take several hours. Some companies are actually now using dogs to detect hard-to-find infestations.
Treatment Procedures
Infested beds and clothes have to be washed and cleansed in a temperature of at least 120°F. You could also place the infested stuff in a clothes dryer set at medium to high heat for 20 minutes. Items which cannot be put in a washer or dryer can be de-infested by wrapping them in plastic and placed in a hot, sunny place. Bed bugs also die at temperatures below 32°F if kept in that temperature for several days. Traditionally, it was necessary to throw out infested items like beds or upholstered furniture. Now, there is no need. You can safely use Wondercide BioDefense on all furniture, fabric, and upholstery.
Do I have to Throw Out the Bed?
Eliminating bed bugs can be difficult. If there are holes or tears in the bed’s fabric, the bugs and eggs could be inside or outside. Wondercide BioDefense can be used to soak or fog the mattress. There are actually restrictions on how beds can be treated with chemical pesticides. Professionals who aren’t using Wondercide recommend that beds be discarded.
Preventing Infestations
Since it is hard to remove bed bugs, it makes sense to take precautions to avoid them. Folks must be wary when buying used furnishings, especially beds and couches. Curbside items should be avoided. Secondhand articles must be examined closely before being bought. The incidence of bed bugs in the United States is increasing drastically. Being knowledgeable can really help prevent their further infestation.

People nowadays only hear about bed bugs but rarely do they get to see these creepy crawlers. Bed bug infestations were common in the United States before the World War II when there was still a lack of outdoor pest control remedies. But with the great improvements in people’s overall hygiene and the use of numerous chemical insecticides like DDT in the 1940’s and the 1950’s, the population of the bugs in the United States almost vanished. However these insects were still a common sight in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe.
Bed bugs are making a big comeback in the United States during the recent years. They are making their way not only through homes but also in other public facilities like hotels, schools, even in cars and other modes of transportation! Immigration, international travel, the various changes in modern organic pest control practices are seen to be the major causes of the reappearance of these pests.
Description and Habits
Bed bugs are small, brown, flat insects which feed mainly on the blood of mammals. The common bed bug, Cimex lectularis, is the species most often plaguing humans. They are so comfortable in human dwellings, that they have been living with humans since ancient times. Evidences of their co-existence with humans are discussed in medieval European texts and classical Greek writings dating back to the time of Aristotle.
Adult bed bugs usually measure about 3/16 inches long and are reddish brown in color. They are typically mistaken for ticks and cockroaches. Young bed bugs are quite similar to adults but are smaller and lighter in color. These bugs do not fly but they move fast over floors, walls, and other surfaces. Female bed bugs like to lay their eggs in isolated areas. They usually lay 1 to 2 eggs per day which add up to hundreds during their lifetime. The eggs are just about as small as a dust speck which makes it difficult to see them without magnification. They are quite sticky when first laid, which is why the eggs stick to most surfaces. Newly hatched bugs are straw-colored and shed their skin five times before reaching maturity. With favorable conditions, bed bugs can develop in a month’s time producing three or more generations per year. Cooler temperatures or limited supply of blood could extend their development time. Bed bugs are tough and could actually survive months without feeding as nymphs and years as adults. Infestations are therefore unlikely to end even if you leave a premise for a long time.
Bed bugs are active during the night and gather together in routine hiding places. Their flattened bodies enable them to fit in tiny gaps in mattresses, box springs, bed frames and headboards. These areas are marked by dark stains, which are from the dried excrement of the bugs. Bed bugs prefer to hide close to where they feed but will crawl several feet to obtain a meal, if necessary.

Bed bugs usually bite people at night while they are sleeping. They feed by piercing the skin with an elogated beack through which they withdraw blood. Engorgement takes about three to 10 minutes, yet the person seldom knows they are being bitten.
The bugs are efficient hitchhikers and are usually transported in on luggage, clothing, beds, furniture, and other items. This is a particular problem for hotels, motels and apartments, where turnover of occupants is constant. Bed bugs are small, cryptic and agile, escaping detection after crawling into suitcases, boxes and belongings.
Bed bugs can live in almost any crevice or protected location. The most common place to find them is the bed. Bed bugs often hide within seams, tufts and crevices of the mattress, box spring, bed frame and headboard.
Other common places to find bed bugs include: along and under the edge of wall-to-wall carpeting (especially behind beds and furniture); cracks in wood molding; ceiling-wall junctures; behind wall-mounted picture frames, mirrors, switch plates and outlets; under loose wallpaper; amongst clothing and clutter stored in closets; and inside clocks, phones, televisions and smoke detectors.

WHAT THE EPA IS NOT TELLING YOU!
This very week the EPA held a summit to address the NATIONAL BED BUG EPIDEMIC and the result was that nothing works. What they did not tell you is that a representative from Wondercide’s supplier, CedarCide Industries, Inc. was present at the summit with imperical data that proves there is an all natural, green product that kills bed bugs in less than 34 seconds.
The EPA doesn’t want you to know about this product because they have a long standing relationship with the chemical companies that provides them with both power and revenue.
During the summit the EPA prevented any of the scientific imperical data from being distributed to any of the attendees, prevented the distribution of a CD that contained this data as well as a video that talks about the testing and how well Wondercide’s BioDefense works. It appears that the EPA is more concerned about their wallet then they are your safety! At one time the EPA told us that pyrethrums were safe for use, yet some MSDS sheets state that exposure to these deadly chemicals could require an atropine injection. Now you can find out what the EPA is trying to keep from you, it’s information that can save your life and the life of your pets.

How can you tell if your property is infested?
Bed bugs infest only a small proportion of residences, but they should be suspected if residents complain of bites that occurred while sleeping. The epidemic is growing rapidly in the North East United States and throughout the world. Typically, the bedroom is where you would find them, but in recent years, and even months, they are being found all throughout homes and hotels, regardless of cleanliness. The bedroom and other sleeping areas should be carefully examined for bed bugs and signs of bed bug activity. Folds and creases in the bed linens, and seams and tufts of mattresses and box springs, in particular, may harbor bed bugs or their eggs. They may also be found within pleats of curtains, beneath loose areas of wallpaper near the bed, in corners of desks and dressers, within spaces of wicker furniture, behind cove molding, and in laundry or other items on the floor or around the room. Sometimes, characteristic dark brown or reddish fecal spots of bed bugs are apparent on the bed linens, mattress or walls near the bed. A peculiar coriander-like odor may be detected in some heavily infested residences.

How do bed bugs invade a home?
Because bed bugs readily hide in small crevices, they may accompany (as stowaways) luggage, furniture, clothing, pillows, boxes, and other such objects when these are moved between apartments, homes and hotels. Used furniture, particularly bed frames and mattresses, are of greatest risk of harboring bed bugs and their eggs. Thus, one should carefully scrutinize and consider the history of any used furniture, particularly ‘street’ items so plentiful at the beginning and end of each academic year. Because they readily survive for many months without feeding, bed bugs may already be present in apparently ‘vacant’ and ‘clean’ apartments. Bed bugs can wander between adjoining apartments through voids in walls and holes though which wires and pipes pass.

Where do bed bugs live?
Bed bugs and their relatives occur nearly worldwide. Bed bugs became relatively scarce during the latter part of the 20thcentury, but their populations have resurged in recent years, particularly throughout parts of North America, Europe, and Australia. They are most abundant in rooms where people sleep, and they generally hide nearest the bed or other furniture used for sleeping. Bed bugs are most active in the middle of the night, but when hungry, they will venture out during the day to seek a host. Their flattened bodies allow them to conceal themselves in cracks and crevices around the room and within furniture. Favored hiding sites include the bed frame, mattress and box spring. Clutter around the room offers additional sites for these bugs to hide, and increases the difficulty in eliminating bed bugs once they have become established.
Recently, the EPA has gotten reports of Bed Bugs found in computers, cell phones, luggage, home appliances and in the walls of homes and businesses. The only thing that will get rid of bed bugs in BioDefense by Wondercide, used in a non thermal ULV fogger. BioDefense commands 100% mortality to bed begs within seconds, as proven by ICR labs and more than 35 other independent tests.

BED BUGS HAVE INVADED THE NATION
Kill Bed Bugs Safely with BioDefense from Wondercide
Do you wonder what has been biting you and your children at night ? Chances are it was a bed bug. Not since the bed bug outbreak of the 50′s has there been such a increase in the population of this blood sucking pest. History reveals the 50′s epidemic was brought under control with the use of a nerve gas by-product called DDT. But alas, this carcinogenic is no longer available for use in controlling parasites. Furthermore, it is no longer prudent, legal or politically correct to use organophosphates, carbomates or pyrethroid substances to eradicate this pest. And rightfully so. Millions of Americans exposed to these toxins have fallen victim to incurable ailments ranging from breast cancer, parkinson’s disease, autism, compromised immune systems and other ongoing ailments.
At the request of the US Army for their use in the Mideast, Wondercide now offers a Biological Control Product used in the control of parasites such as bed bugs, fleas, ticks, lice and mites. This breakthrough technology will go down in history as the greatest arthropod control invention ever formulated. Exposure to the treatment results in INSTANT DEATH to its recipient. However, the level of safety is so high it can be applied to new born mammals and their nursing mothers. Unlike chemical counterparts that attack the nervous system of the insect to prompt its demise, Wondercides technology delivers the cedar oil active ingredient in a NANO size molecular weight that instantly triggers closure of the bed bugs breathing spherical pores and its subsequent suffocation.
Bed bugs are nocturnal. In the wee hours of the morning they visit their human victim. They hide in the beds headboard, the folds of the mattress, in the cavity of the box spring, in your luggage, in your shoes, in the ceiling and baseboard trim of the room, in the electrical outlets, dresser drawers and behind the pictures on the wall. They travel up to 150 foot a night in search of a blood meal that you or your children will provide. They hitch a ride home in your luggage or clothing after your stay at the highest quality hotels in the World who often remain in denial as to their high levels of bed bug infestation. Your children bring them home from the College dormitories. Their best friends deliver them to you in their overnight bags. There is no such thing as a bed bug preventative. There is no such thing as a bed bug repellent. Just a cure that results from their eradication. Wondercides Chemical Free BioDefense formulation is the undisputed solution and the preferred method of bed bug eradication.

Bed bugs seek out people and animals, generally at night while these hosts are asleep, and painlessly sip a few drops of blood. While feeding, they inject a tiny amount of their saliva into the skin. Repeated exposures to bed bug bites during a period of several weeks or more causes people to become sensitized to the saliva of these bugs; additional bites may then result in mild to intense allergic responses. The skin lesion produced by the bite of a bed bug resembles those caused by many other kinds of blood feeding insects, such as mosquitoes and fleas. The offending insect, therefore, can rarely be identified by the appearance of the bites. A physician should be consulted to rule out other causes for the lesions and to offer treatment, as needed. The affected person should resist the urge to scratch the bites, as this may intensify the irritation and itching, and may lead to secondary infection. Physicians often treat patients with antihistamines and corticosteroids to reduce allergic reactions and inflammation. Despite what you may have heard or read elsewhere, bed bugs are not known to transmit any infectious agents.
To control these pests, use Wondercide’s BioDefense to treat your home and beds! This bio-solution will quickly and completely eliminate both the adult bed bugs, and the resulting eggs and larvae cycles.

What are bed bugs?
Bed bugs are small wingless insects that feed solely upon the blood of warm-blooded animals. Bed bugs and their relatives have evolved as nest parasites. Certain kinds inhabit bird nests and bat roosts and await the return of their hosts; others have adapted well to living in the ‘nests’ (homes) of people.
 Bed Bug on Human Skin
Hatchling bed bugs are about the size of a poppy seed, and adults are about 1/4 of an inch in length. From above they are oval in shape, but are flattened from top to bottom.
Their color ranges from nearly white (just after molting) or a light tan to a deep brown or burnt orange. The host’s blood may appear as a dark red or black mass within the bug’s body. Because they never develop wings, bed bugs cannot fly. When disturbed, bed bugs actively seek shelter in dark cracks and crevices. Cast skins of bed bugs are sometimes discovered. Although such a finding confirms that bed bugs had been present previously, it does not confirm that any continue to infest the residence. Thus, inspect carefully for live crawling bed bugs.
Wondercide BioDefense™ will eliminate Bed Bugs from Homes, Hotels, Apratments, or any other property! Stay tuned for our next Blog: Do bed bugs cause harm or spread disease-causing germs?
