Wondercide recently had the privilege to be a part of ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition. The Beach family, located in Kemah, TX was selected by the show producers after their home was devastated in 2008 from Hurricane Ike. Since then, the family of 15 has been living in a FEMA trailer in their backyard. The Beach’s have fostered more than 75 children during their 23 year marriage, and were nominated for the show by Kemah City Council members, state representatives, and congressmen after returning home to find their home had been severely damaged by hurricane winds and flooding.
Wondercide’s crew volunteered their time and donated 120 gallons of its revolutionary new product, PETRIFY, to the project. Working in conjunction with Blu Shields Construction, the Wonder-workers participated around the clock to coat the interior and exterior SIP panels, second floor decking and roof with the ONETIME, LIFETIME wood preservative. With the builders facing a week of untimely cold and wet weather, the non-toxic wood penetrant protected the wood and allowed the project to proceed.
After a week of non-stop work and coordination among hundreds of volunteers and project managers, the 6,300 sqft. house was revealed to the Beach family and the Clear Lake community on January 14th. Wondercide is excited to have been a part of the community effort to help a deserving family get back on their feet. We donated building materials to the boys “tree fort room”. In all over $15,000 worth of fake wood products. We feel blessed that we were in a position to help the Beach family! We cant wait to see the boys faces when the show airs.
