It’s smoothie season! And we’re feeling extra fruity. There’s nothing more refreshing than a cool gulp of fruitful goodness on a hot day. So we’re sharing a healthy, fresh smoothie recipe to quench your thirst this summer.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of almond milk (or orange juice)
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
- 1 cup of frozen spinach leaves
- ½ cup of frozen berries
- ½ cup of frozen mango or pineapple:
- 1 banana
- ½ teaspoon of powdered ginger (optional)
- 1 teaspoon of maple syrup (optional)
Put all of these delicious ingredients into a blender and blend until you’ve reached your desired consistency! Add in some water or increase your almond milk/orange juice portion to help the blender work more smoothly.
A few tips:
- Milk or orange juice? Either will keep the smoothie light and easy to blend. Choose whichever you like best.
- Chia seeds: This small addition will provide some extra fiber, protein, and antioxidants to your smoothie. These powerful pellets of nutrients could also lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, help with diabetes, and subside anxiety and depression.
- Spinach: Spinach is the silent hero of a healthy summer beverage. This handful of greenery will provide some extra vitamin C and E as well as iron and antioxidants without contaminating your fruity flavor. Put the spinach in the freezer overnight or buy frozen spinach leaves to give them that cool, freshing element.
- Berries: The choice of berries is up to you. A good mix of organic blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries is always reliable. The frozen factor will allow the smoothie to remain cool and refreshing as soon as it’s ready to drink.
- Mango and pineapple: These fruits add a great blend of tropical tastes as well as providing vitamin A and C. They are also known to promote wellness.
- Banana: Not only do these yellow delights provide a wholesome, rich flavor, but they also keep the consistency nice and creamy.
- Ginger: Ginger is great for gut health and improving the digestive tract. Add in some powdered ginger to your smoothie to get that extra burst of nutrients.
- Maple syrup: Use for an extra sprinkle of sweetness.
