How do I apply the Flea & Tick Spray for Pets + Home?
-
Follow label instructions for best results. Still have questions? Check out this video for step-by-step application directions for pets.
FOR BEST RESULTS. Rub your pet’s coat in the opposite direction of growth, spray, and rub in. Spray the body, legs, tail, belly and armpits. Spritz into your hands to rub onto your pet's ears and face. Avoid spraying in mouth, nose and eyes. Do not soak your pet. Full coverage will ensure best results. Spray kills by contact when wet, repels when dry.
FOR DOGS. Apply every 2-3 days for pest prevention and each time before visiting untreated areas. Repeat as needed to kill and repel fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. Pest pressure differs by geography, so you might find you use it more or less frequently. Safe for everyday use when used as directed. Lemongrass oil naturally has a yellow tint and may temporarily discolor light fur. It will wash out. We recommend a test spray before full application.
FOR CATS. Apply every 2-3 days for pest prevention and each time before visiting untreated areas. Repeat as needed to kill and repel fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. Since cats are more sensitive by nature, we recommend a test spray an hour before a full treatment and suggest using the 4 oz. size for a finer mist. If your cat is fearful of spray bottles, spray into your hands and massage on to your cat. Lemongrass oil naturally has a yellow tint and may temporarily discolor light fur. It will wash out.
FOR HOMES. Spray on carpet, hard floors, furniture, fabrics and pet bedding. Make sure you contact all surfaces to eliminate any existing problems. Lemongrass oil has a naturally yellow tint and may temporarily discolor light fabrics and home surfaces. We recommend a test spray on a small, hidden area prior to full application. For best results, use in conjunction with Flea & Tick for Yard + Garden in any outdoor spaces.
-
How do I apply Flea & Tick for Yard + Garden? How often?
-
Follow label instructions for best results. For step-by-step application directions, check out this video.
FOR TREATMENT OF ACTIVE PROBLEMS. Apply this powerful spray twice within 7-10 days to your outdoor areas (like the lawn and patio) to ensure you’re eliminating whatever pests are present. Start at your home and spray top to bottom. Continue onto the lawn, working your way back to the fence line. Walk at a steady pace and use a sweeping motion, slightly overlapping treated areas. Complete coverage is important, especially in shaded areas. Once control is established, the less frequently you’ll need to apply. To ensure you’re fully treating your pest problem, we recommend using in conjunction with the Flea & Tick Spray for Pets + Home.
FOR PREVENTION AND MAINTENANCE. For ongoing control, apply every 30-45 days, or as needed. Higher concentrations and year-round use may enhance results.

How does Wondercide work?
-
... and how does it kill some bugs and not others? Cedarwood oil affects octopamine, which is essential to life for pheromone-driven pests like fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, flies, roaches, ants and hundreds of other insect pests. Octopamine is responsible for regulating heart rate, movement and behavior in pests. Cedar oil blocks the octopamine neurotransmitter receptors in pests, causing pests to be repelled from the area. When contacted, pests suffocate and die. Cedar oil is safe for mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, and beneficial insects, because they do not utilize octopamine neurotransmitters in the same way that the pheromone-driven pests do.
-
What is ethyl lactate?
-
Ethyl lactate is a non-GMO corn oil byproduct. Ethyl lactate is listed by the US FDA as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS). As the surfactant in Flea & Tick Spray for Yard + Garden, Flea and Tick for Yard+Garden, Outdoor Pest Control for Yard + Garden and Home & Garden, ethyl lactate allows the cedarwood oil to mix with water. When mixed, the concentrate becomes ready to use.
-
Will Wondercide leave an oily residue or stain?
-
No. While Wondercide products are oil-based, they dry rather quickly, leaving dogs, cats, furniture, bedding, and flooring grease and stain-free. For specialty fabrics such as satin, leather and suede, we recommend testing a discreet area prior to a full application.
-

The color of my Lemongrass spray looks different from the last bottle I purchased.
-
Because our lemongrass oil is a plant-derived ingredient, the color can vary somewhat from batch to batch.
In very cold weather the spray may also turn milky in color due to the coconut-based ingredients we use. It will revert to its normal color once it returns to room temperature.
Both are strictly cosmetic and do not affect the safety or functionality of the spray.
-
Can I spray outdoors around bodies of water?
-
Our outdoor sprays are safe to use around lakes, ponds, or other outdoor water features. Do not spray directly into the water because sudden changes in water composition can be stressful for fish or other aquatic life.
-

-
Is it safe if my kids or young children sleep with pets that are wearing the collar?
-
Yes, the ingredients are plant-powered and safe for use around kids when the collar is used as directed.

Does this collar actually kill pests?
-
Flea & Tick Collar is great at repelling, but doesn’t kill fleas or ticks your pet might already have. To kill fleas and ticks or for an added layer of protection, use Flea & Tick Pets + Home along with the collar.
If you have an active flea infestation, start with a bath using Flea & Tick liquid shampoo, then use Flea & Tick Pets + Home and Flea & Tick Yard + Garden (if you have a yard) as directed to get rid of the issue fast. The collar can be worn while you get an infestation under control and for ongoing repellency up to 4 months.
-
Can my pet go swimming with this collar on? Can I bathe them with it on?
-
The collar is water resistant, however it’s not waterproof. Remove the collar before bathtime or swimming, then replace after.

Can I remove the collar when my pets go swimming/get a bath?
-
Yes, the collar can be removed and we do recommend that before swimming or a bath. Put the collar back on after your pet’s time in the water.
-
Does the collar offer full body protection, or just around the neck?
-
Yes, the collar offers full body protection and will repel most fleas and ticks most of the time when used as directed. Nothing is 100% effective 100% of the time, so we recommend protecting your yard if you have one with Flea & Tick Yard + Garden and using Flea & Tick Pets + Home as an added layer of protection when pest pressure is high or when you go to dog parks or other areas not protected by Wondercide.
-
My pet got the collar off and chewed on it. Will they be ok?
-
Chewing on the collar without eating it should be fine. Many pet chews are actually made from nylon. If your pet ingests anything that isn't designed for consumption, including part or all of the nylon collar, keep a close eye on them and consult your veterinarian if there are signs of stress.
-
Does the collar have a safety latch or mechanism?
-
Yes, this is a breakaway collar. The buckle is held by friction, not a lock, so once a bit too much tension is applied, it breaks apart to protect your pet.
-
How strong of a scent does the collar have?
-
The scent is like a freshly opened candy cane and it will dissipate over time. In comparison to the peppermint scent of our sprays, the sprays have a more vibrant scent than the collars.
